Our client are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team of designers.
The role involves working with a fast paced design company that specialise in the rail market. You would be responsible for the design of safety critical components from start to finish.
With the majority of the manufacture being completed in the UK you would have to liaise with the production department to ensure your designs can be manufactured efficiently.
This is not a project management role so people that want this need not apply.
This role would involve: -
- Hand and computer calculations for metal fatigue and hydraulic processes (Not the control of, but the use.)
- SolidWorks 3D modelling and 2D draughting
- Detail design of solutions including monitoring live test data
- Design for manufacture and assembly.
The right designer for this role would be a hardened Mechanical Designer with understanding of the fundamental understanding of material fatigue and failure modes as well as an understanding of hydraulic principles.
They would have an eye for detail and the ability to solve engineering problems as when as mechanical ones.
They would also have the ability to discuss the designs with the client from the initial design stages right through to the end.
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal engineer for this role would have a BSc or BEng minimum and ideally 2+ years experience dealing with; stress + strain calculations, material fatigue.
Also the candidate should have some exposure to SolidWorks in industry or at least another parametric modeller.
